A Boston Roundtable on Housing, Policy, and Growth
You have to keep your developers well fed…
Outside of my day to day of reviewing bridge loans, speaking with investors, partners, and banks. I also take the time to feed the developers we work with. We’re feeding them with market intelligence, opportunities, and of course the capital they need to keep building the housing that Greater Boston needs.
Yesterday, alongside Tom Colleran of BuildBoston we brought a dozen plus Boston area developers into the office to hear Greg Maynard of Boston Policy Institute tell about many of the big picture issues (city and state revenue sources, impacts of commercial and residential taxes, major development and zoning discussions) that he presents on a regular basis to City and State officials, City Councilors and C-suite Executives.
As a firm we’re trying to feed the development community with the information on the issues that affect their businesses and our ability as a City and Region to develop housing. Hopefully with an idea that we are better able to shape and proactively react to the policies that affect us the most.
Imho, if we don’t produce enough housing (not just affordable housing) then we won’t have homes for the thousands of individuals and families that call the Greater Boston area home. Greater Boston is our market and we’re what we can as a firm not just to support our own clients but the building and development industry as a whole in the Boston area.
Because if as a City we want housing that our citizens can afford than…
We have to... Let the Builders Build.
